The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, won Saturday’s presidential election in the Baru 003, Baba Tone, Sarki Yara “A” Ward of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).

Tinubu through his party, APC, polled 215 votes to beat other major contestants, namely Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party who polled 51 votes, and Rabiu Kwankaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party who polled 37 votes.

An INEC returning officer at the ward (name protected) announced the results as well as that of the National Assembly at 5.45 p.m.

For the Senate, APC also won with 184 while PDP and NNPP polled 51 and 4 votes respectively.

APC equally won the Federal House of Representatives with 236 votes, PDP and NNPP polled 51 and 4 votes respectively.

The President along with his wife, Hajiya Aishatu, earlier on Saturday morning joined other Nigerians to cast votes for candidates of their choice in the ward.

The President and his wife arrived at the ward a few minutes before 10: 00 am in the morning and cast their votes at 10.06 a.m after undergoing necessary voting protocols including Bimodal Voters Accreditation System capture.

The President who was dressed in a white flowing gown and a wine/white colour cap told newsmen after voting, that all his candidates “from Daura to Lagos” would emerge victorious.

“From Daura to Lagos, my candidates will win Insha Allah,” he declared.

The President said the electoral reforms his government introduced would discourage malpractices including multiple voting and ensure credible elections.

“Before BVAS, people could do multiple voting and other reforms. Now, you can only vote once,” he added.

Turnout was impressive at the President’s ward while the situation was generally calm in Daura on Saturday.

It was also observed that officials of various government agencies including the ICPC and EFCC positioned themselves at various points in the ward where the President and the wife voted.
