Rangers manager, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, has delivered a worrying update on the injury suffered by Leon Balogun during their league clash with Hibernian on Wednesday.

Rangers manager, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, has delivered a worrying update on the injury suffered by Leon Balogun during their league clash with Hibernian on Wednesday.

Balogun clashed with Paul McGinn in the first half at Ibrox.

McGinn limped off first before the Nigerian defender followed in the 14th minute.

Borna Barisic was brought on to replace Balogun, with Calvin Bassey moving inside to centre-back.

Balogun has already missed a huge chunk of this season through injury and only returned for the second half of the Old Firm Derby with Celtic and then the full 90 against Hearts.

Speaking after the game, Van Bronckhorst said: “I don’t know what exactly he has but he couldn’t continue, we have to assess him and see what he has.

“For him, it has been a difficult time, of course being away through injury many moments in the season, he just came back so hopefully it’s not that serious but we have to wait and see.”
