Lagos Police Commissioner Hakeem Odumosu has urged officers and men of the command not to lose faith over the cruel murder of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Kazeem Abonde by riotous commercial motorcyclists.
He made the plea while addressing field and tactical commanders and heads of departments at the POWA Hall, Ikeja, a statement released yesterday night by spokesman Adekunle Ajisebutu said.
According to Ajisebutu, Odumosu assured them that Abonde’s death would not be in vain, commending the operatives for the selfless services they continue to render.
The police boss, Ajisebutu said, also directed the commanders to beef up security in their various areas to prevent criminals from attacking residents during this ember months and beyond.
“Against the backdrop of activities of hoodlums during heavy traffic, the CP charged DPOs and Area Commanders to provide adequate security at road construction sites in their areas to curtail traffic robbery and control gridlock in affected areas in the state.
“This proactive step, he said, would make our roads secure, safe and more comfortable for motorists and other road users.
“Commending officers and men for their selfless service in the face of daunting challenges that daily confront them in the line of duty, the Commissioner of Police admonished them not to be discouraged by the death of CSP Kazeem Sunmonu Abonde who was brutally killed during a raid on criminal hideouts in Ajao Estate on September 23.
“He assured that the deceased officer would not die in vain,” said Ajisebutu.
