Mojeed Balogun bags Lagos Panorama SDG Grassroots Award

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government Council Dr Mojeed Balogun on Wednesday was presented with the Lagos Panorama Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Grassroots Award.

The award presentation took place in the Chairman’s conference room by the Publisher/Editor of Lagos Panorama Comrade Tayo Aderinola and the Chairman Ikeja Community Development Committee Alhaji Abdul-Kaleel Osinberu

In his opening remark Aderinola stated that the essence of the award is to promote the Sustainable Development Goals in the local government administrations.

The President Community Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (COMPASS) noted that the award is to acknowledge the multi-faceted achievements of the 20 local governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of Lagos State created 2003 by the visionary leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The award is to spotlight 10 LOCAL GOVERNMENTS with outstanding performance in achieving Sustainable Development Goals in the last 2 years of local government administration in Lagos State.

Aderinola stated that the Lagos Panorama SDG Grassroots Awards is to identify truly meaningful grass-root developmental efforts by persons, Local governments, non-profit organizations and companies. The categorization of these awards will be in accordance with development indices of universal acceptance”.

“These awards are intended to motivate and spur grass-root development through contributions from all spheres and subsequent edition from 2020 nominees will be nominated by their respective Community Development Committee and voting shall be done by the Community Development Associations across the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas”.

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government Council Dr Mojeed Balogun expressed his appreciation for award by the by the Lagos Panorama team. He noted that his achievements thus far were possible by the teamwork of his Executive tam and staff of the council. He promised to double their efforts to make Ikeja residents enjoy more dividends of democratic government.

He further stated that “this award will a source of inspiration to drive us to do more for our people” the Ikeja helmsman posited.

The Council Treasurer, Ikeja Local Government Mr Muyiwa Onokoya in the vote of thanks speech on behalf of the council expressed gratitude to the Lagos Panorama Editorial for the laudable idea and noted that “Our Chairman is a team player so I am not surprised of the recognition and award. I believe more are to come as both the management and the entire staff will double our efforts to ensure we sustained this feat”.
