LSPWC Concludes Rehabilitation of More Roads

The Lagos State Public Works Corporation has within the spate of three months carried out major and sectional rehabilitation on 54 major and inner roads across the State.

The General Manager of the Corporation, Engr. Olufemi Daramola stated this today at Bush Street, Mende, Maryland during his ongoing project inspection tour to assess work done and conduct on the spot assessment of its impact across the metropolis.

Daramola listed areas where major rehabilitation and overlay have been carried out and completed to include Ijaiye road, Agege, Samson/Akinola Street, Aboru and Ekoro Road in Alimosho, Ado Badore Road and Onikepo Akande Street in Eti-Osa, Ekundayo/Adeyemi Apena Street, Epe, Dayo Adeniji Street, Abiodun Kuye Road, Olayiwola/Charity Road and Jonathan Coker Road in Ifako Ijaiye.

Others are L.J Dosunmu Street, Opebi Road, Allen Avenue, Acme Road and Kudirat Abiola Way in Ikeja, Herbert Macaulay Way (by Ibadan Street Junction, Adekunle Street, Harvey Road, Kano Street and by Yaba Tech), Apapa Road, Afric Road/Abule Nla in Lagos Mainland, Ilupeju Bye Pass, Ilupeju Avenue, Association Avenue in Mushin, Morrocco Road, Igbobi College Road, Market Street in Shomolu and Enitan Street in Surulere among others.

While noting that the rehabilitation work commenced September 6, 2019, and is still ongoing till date, the General Manager emphasised that work is currently being carried out in other areas such as Akowonjo Road, Command Ipaja Road and Femi Bamigbelu Street in Alimosho, Dopemu Road and Ogba Road in Agege, LASU–Iba Road, Ojo, Agbado Road and Olaniyi Street in Ifako Ijaiye, Boundary and Mobil Road in Ajeromi Ifelodun, Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island, Ibeh Street, Oshodi-Isolo, Park Lane Road, Apapa, VGC Propa, Eti-Osa, Oba Ogunnusi Road, Ikeja, Tobi Lawal Street and Lagos Mainland.

He also listed roads where sectional rehabilitation and patching have been done and completed as Siji Soetan Street, Eti-Osa, Awolowo Way (Underbridge inward railway line), Oba Akran and Agidingbi Road in Ikeja, TOS Benson Road, Ikorodu, Third Axial Road, Oworonshoki, Kosofe, Ozumba Mbadiwe Road in Lagos Island, Industrial Road and Morris Street in Lagos Mainland, Folayemi Street, Mushin, Oshodi Road and Okota Road in Oshodi-Isolo, Alakija/WAEC Road, Shomolu, Eric Moore and Ishaga Road in Surulere.

The General Manager said the Corporation aims at ensuring that most roads in the State are motorable before the commencement of the rainy season in order to consolidate and build on the modest achievements recorded in the last few months.

He, however, advised residents to shun habits which affect the life span of roads rehabilitated such as spilling petroleum products and cooking oil on the road, removal of manhole covers, burning of items on the road, indecent disposal of waste and improper channelisation of wastewater.
