… Seeks Cordial Working Relationship

The Management team of Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSCPWB) has paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Chairman of the Lagos State Health Service Commission (LSHSC), Dr. (Mrs.) Tinuke Onayiga, with a view to establishing a cordial working relationship.

Speaking during the visit, the Board Secretary of LSCPWB and leader of the team, Mrs. Florence Yetunde Gbafe, stated that the purpose of the visit was to congratulate Dr. Onayiga on her appointment as well as seek better a working relationship between the two agencies of Government.

She said, “We have come to register our presence and let you know what we do in order to be able to collaborate with you”.

While appreciating the erstwhile Board for its support to the LSCPWB, Gbafe expressed the need to build on the existing cordial working relationship to enhance future collaboration between the two organisations.

The Board Secretary also informed the host that after due consultation with the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), the State Pilgrims Board opted to embark on a pilgrimage exercise to the Kingdom of Jordan, which is a safe and accommodating city with many biblical historical sites, as an alternative to Isreal which has refused to open its borders to pilgrims.

Responding, the Chairman LSHSC, Dr. (Mrs) Tinuke Onayiga thanked the LSCPWB delegation for the visit, declaring that the Commission is willing and ready to collaborate, even if it requires visiting the agency to familiarise themselves with the workings of the Board.

While looking forward to harmonious working experience with the Pilgrims Board, she commended the Agency for opting for Jordan as an alternative for the forthcoming pilgrimage exercise, adding that she studied in Egypt and used to visit Jordan biblical historical sites as an undergraduate of Alexander University, Egypt.

Some of the Board members of LSHSC, who were present at the occasion, attested to the hospitality and organisational skills of LSCPWB during holy pilgrimage exercise, adding that the trips were always well planned and coordinated. They disclosed that the holy Pilgrimage could not have come at a better time than now when the world is going through challenging times, saying “We look forward to praying for the Federal Government of Nigeria and in particular Lagos State Government during the pilgrimage”.

Other members of the Health Service Commission present at the meeting include Dr. Olumuyiwa Solanke, Commissioner I; Dr. Mobolaji Olukoya, Commissioner II and Dr. (Mrs.) Kemi Ogunyemi, Commissioner IV.
