A joint Valedictory Plenary Session was held by Ikeja, Ojodu, and Onigbongbo Legislative Councils of Ikeja Federal Constituency on Thursday, 14th November 2024, to celebrate the life and legacy of Hon. Oladotun Olakanle, the esteemed late Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, at the newly completed Main Hall, a testament to his leadership.

At the Plenary session, Onigbongbo Legislative Council Leader Kayode Opayemi led the tribute ceremony, expressing profound sympathies on behalf of the local legislatures to the family and Onigbongbo Community.
Ikeja Legislative Council Leader Ayotunde Adenuga paid a moving tribute to the late Chairman, lauding him as a valued associate and friend whose wisdom and benevolence touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of encountering him.
In a similar gesture, Hon. Opeyemi Apatira, Ojodu Legislative Council Leader, lauded Hon. Olakanle’s notable accomplishments and unwavering commitment to his constituents, expressing sympathy and prayers for the family of the late chairman.
Onigbongbo LCDA’s newly inaugurated Chairman, Hon. Rakiya Hassan, expressed profound condolences to the family of her esteemed predecessor, Hon. Olakanle.
Honorable Hassan vowed to uphold and build upon the developmental achievements established by Honorable Olakanle.
Mr. Babatunde Ogala (SAN), former National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress, expressed surprise and sadness at the late Chairman’s passing during the Special Valedictory Plenary.
He noted his frequent exhortations to the Chairman to excel, and extended deepest condolences to his family and the entire Onigbongbo community.
The Council Manager of Onigbongbo LCDA, Mr. Osikoya Sogo, delivered a heartfelt condolence poem to honor the memory of Hon. Olakanle, whom he described as a selfless leader dedicated to achieving sustainable development and promoting the welfare of the people.
Alhaja Iyabode Akerele, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Onigbongbo LCDA, paid tribute to the late chair’s family and advised the successor to adopt the admirable traits of her predecessor.
She emphasized the importance of displaying maternal warmth and inclusiveness.
A delegation from the Lagos State Conference 57 Councils Chairmen joined Hon. Rakiya Hassan, Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, and other dignitaries, including Executive Members, Legislative Arm representatives, Management, Staff, Traditional Rulers, Party leaders, members, family, friends, and supporters, for a Night-Wake Keep in honor of late Onigbongbo LCDA Chairman.
The Thursday’s wake keep and service of songs, held at the Grandeur Event Center on Billings Way, Oregun, provided an opportunity for members of Conference 57, the umbrella organization for Lagos State Council Chairmen, to extend their sincerest condolences and pay tribute to the late Hon. Oladotun Olakanle (RIP).
