LG/LCDA Conference 57 Chief Press Secretaries vow to enlighten the masses on the negative impact of fake news

The Conference 57 Chief Press Secretaries of the local governments and Local Council Development Areas, held their monthly meeting at the Onigbongbo LCDA Secretariat on Wednesday.

AbdulHameed Salawu, stressed that the major crusade was to enlighten the masses on the negative impact of fake news across the various platforms including the social media.

Ajimomuya stated that “the recent uprising in Lagos State was enabled by news stories that were diabolical, manipulative and destructive to the sanctity of our basic existence as humans, Ajimomu promised that the Conf.57 CPS would engage “electorate in the grassroots on the integrity of being objective on matters of national discourse without envisaging the traits of political, ethnic and religious colorations”.

He advised those affected by the rage “Lagosians whose business was affected to fill the LSETF portal and file their claims accordingly.

He urged young entrepreneurs in Lagos to maximize the opportunities offered through the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), under the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, which was the federal government commitment towards the economic emancipation of the youths with projects and programs designed to boost entrepreneurship and human capital development across the country.

He also noted that “one of our sole responsibilities would be to give adequate coverage and reporting of the judicial panel of enquiry as they engage in criminal prosecution of police officers for offences related to violation of human rights in Lagos State”.

According to the Somolu CPS, “it has become crucial for youths to participate actively in governance and politics, starting from the grassroots”.

“Lessons from the EndSARS protest must propagate a new horizon in national discourse among the youths, and with the commitment of becoming engaging, responsive and objective in their perception of how their future would be governed by themselves”.

Ajimomuya also vowed that the Conference 57 CPS would continue to uphold the leadership qualities of a National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who he referred to as a pathfinder and transformer of modern day politics in Lagos and Nigeria.

Noting that Senator Tinubu’s “political philosophy and national legacies towards the attainment of democracy in Nigeria cannot be over-emphasized, be ascertained that the loyalty of Members of the Conference 57 CPS to him” he asserted.

The Chief Host of the event, the Executive Chairman Onigbongbo LCDA, Hon Oladotun Olakanle while responding to journalists on his advice to the Local Government CPS Conference, he stated that; “I appreciate been given the opportunity to host the Conference of Press Secretaries of our local governments. It’s the only way we can encourage them to lend their voice in advocating for peace in their respective local government and should help in promoting peace in their communities”.

“I am grateful to God and the people of Onigbongbo LCDA, because during the EndSARS protest our youths and community Leaders protected both government and private properties which eventually made us recorded minimal incident of destruction, aside from the unfortunate attack on Dr Abayomi Finnh garden and Oregun Theater that were destroyed. So this reflects our level of community engagement”.

“My advice to all our teeming youths is for them to participate in politics, be it any of the parties, just make sure you get involved in politics. It is only when you’re involved that you can aspire and be in position to effect the required change” the council boss advised.
