League of Former Ward Chairmen pays courtesy visit to AKOD, confers Grand Patron Award

The League of Former Ward Chairmen in Ikeja Federal Constituency paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government Council, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), at the Council Secretariat, reaffirming its support for his administration and ongoing developmental initiatives.

During the visit, the League honoured the Chairman, who is also a foundation member of the association, with the prestigious Grand Patron Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership, visionary governance, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to the growth and development of Ikeja Local Government and the welfare of its residents.

Speaking on behalf of the League, its Chairman, Comrade Tayo Aderinola, congratulated Comrade Dauda on the occasion of his recent birthday and commended his administration for its inclusive leadership style and people-oriented programmes.

Comrade Aderinola noted that since assuming office following the local government elections, AKOD has demonstrated remarkable commitment to grassroots development, evident in the numerous developmental projects and initiatives being implemented across the council area.

He also appreciated the Chairman for appointing members of the League and former councillors into his administration, describing the gesture as a testament to his recognition of loyal party members and experienced grassroots leaders who have contributed immensely to the growth of the party and the development of the constituency.

The League further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his visionary leadership and acknowledged the continuous support and mentorship of the Most Distinguished Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, whose contributions to the welfare and empowerment of residents of Ikeja Federal Constituency remain invaluable.

In his response, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda expressed profound appreciation to the League for the visit and the honour bestowed upon him. He stated that, as a foundation member of the association, he remains committed to representing its ideals and aspirations while serving the people of Ikeja with dedication and integrity.

The Chairman described the Grand Patron Award as a source of motivation that would inspire him to intensify efforts towards sustainable grassroots development and the delivery of more impactful programmes for the benefit of residents.

Also speaking during the visit, the Secretary of the League, Elder Banjo, outlined several programmes and activities being undertaken by the association ahead of forthcoming elections. He disclosed that the League would commence a capacity-building programme for newly elected Ward Chairmen and Secretaries in Ikeja Federal Constituency, aimed at equipping them with modern election-winning strategies and effective grassroots mobilization skills.

Elder Olufemi Banjo further revealed that the League has begun the production of campaign publicity materials, including banners, to support the promotion of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the forthcoming elections.

The visit concluded with renewed assurances of collaboration between the League and the Ikeja Local Government administration in advancing the development of the constituency and strengthening grassroots political participation.
