LASHMA Board Chairman, Alakija Dies

The Board Chairman of the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr Adetokunbo Alakija is dead.

The Board Chairman of the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr Adetokunbo Alakija is dead.

He died on Wednesday 25th May 2022.

General Manager of LASHMA, Dr Emmanuella Zamba, while mourning Alakija’s passage, described the deceased as a perfect gentleman and a worthy mentor.

“It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of LASHMA’S Board Chairman Dr Ade Alakija on Wednesday 25th May 2022.

“He was an active and integral part of the agency, a perfect gentleman, worthy mentor and cherished leader who provided support and guidance to the agency.

“An up and doing man, constantly present and striving for the best, whose kind words and advice will be very much missed.

“We pray the Lord grants solace to his family at this time,” Zamba said.

Dr Alakija served as the Medical Director at Q-Life Family Clinic and was the foremost travel medicine consultant in Nigeria.

He was a graduate of the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos (MBBS) and an alumnus of the Lagos Business School. He also had an MBA from IESE Business School Spain, a Diploma in Travel Medicine from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow, and was a Full Member of the Faculty of Travel Medicine, MFTM RCPS (Glasg).

In recognition of his excellence in the field of travel medicine, he was awarded a Certificate in Travel Health from the International Society of Travel Medicine.

In addition to his medical background, Dr Alakija worked in the corporate world and combined those skills, with tremendous experience in Construction, Insurance and for a brief while, Oil and Gas.

May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
