In continuation of the ‘Sanwo-Olu Listens’ initiative designed to provide long term financial assistance to vulnerable citizens in the State, the Lagos State Government has presented cheques to 17 vulnerable citizens in Lagos State.

Speaking at the presentation of cheques to beneficiaries at the Secretariat, Ikeja, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale, described Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as a compassionate individual who cares for the needy and would not relent in his efforts at ameliorating the pains of the vulnerable in society.

Princess Adebowale explained that the initiative is one of several social intervention programmes being implemented by the administration to bring relief to residents with adverse socio-economic conditions.

“The vulnerable people in society sometimes need financial assistance to solve a diverse number of challenges ranging from health issues, poverty and disasters occasioned by unforeseen circumstances to loss of livelihoods and businesses. It is, therefore, imperative for any responsive and responsible government to harken unto the cry of such citizens,” she said.

While noting that the laudable initiative by the Governor to support struggling individuals in the State will help to improve their individual challenges, the Special Adviser maintained that the beneficiaries will be adequately monitored to ensure the funds disbursed are judiciously utilised.

Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, February 9th 2021, presented cheques to 50 beneficiaries comprising the elderly, nursing mothers, youths and small scale business owners as well as residents with various health challenges.
