Speaking at the stakeholders meeting at Magbon-Alade Town Hall on Thursday, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, expressed satisfaction with the rate at which the Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration was realising the Greater Lagos vision with the spate of infrastructure development projects across the State.

“A good evidence is the construction of Magbon-Alade township roads, which include, Shittu Yakubu/Okeetun/Itun Oga, Akinsanya Street and Ilado Road, for which the mutual engagement is all about to officially signal the commencement of the project and facilitate the smooth establishment of Right of Way and the actual construction as well as the handover of the township roads”, he said.

The Commissioner explained that the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development is statutorily responsible for ensuring that the project sites are delivered unencumbered to contractors.

While assuring on the payment of compensation to property owners impacted by the project, Salako noted that the removal of encroaching structures was last in the process of establishing the right of way and usually preceded by adequate notice.

Also speaking at the event, the Special Adviser on Urban Development, Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, urged the people to cooperate with the contractor and others that would be working on the project for its smooth execution.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Lands and Physical Planning, Dr. Olajide Babatunde, congratulated the residents of Magbon-Alade and Ilado for the development project and urged them to take ownership of the projects after completion.

Explaining the features of the proposed roads, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Infrastructure, Engr. Rotimi Thomas, urged stakeholders to look forward to standard roads with adequate facilities, including streetlights, walkways, a generator and two-side drainage among others.

The Vice-Chairman, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Mr. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, appreciated the State Government for the promise kept while pledging the support of his people for the project.

Speaking on behalf of the contractor, Origin Engineering Company Limited, Engr. Rolando promised timely delivery of the project within the stipulated 12 months and called for the cooperation of all concerned.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Adele Bale Magbon, Chief Babatunde Mustafa, expressed joy and satisfaction with the State Government for not forgetting the axis.
