Two rival cult groups had a violent fight in Itire Community on Wednesday, 14th August, 2019.
The Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira accompanied by the Vice-Chairman, Pastor Gbenga Oyebode, Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Hammed Oladipupo Idris, SAs , SSAs visited the Scene to show empathy to residents of the affected area.
Dr. Apatira, while addressing the residents said he has instructed the council Engineer to ascertain the extent of Wanton damages caused by the Clash, and further advised the government on where to render assistance to those whose properties are affected.
The Council boss charges the LNSC operatives to work more on their intelligence gathering to aid the activities of the Nigerian Police Force.
Men of the Nigeria Police Force were immediately deployed to the area following a distress call.
The team of policemen was led by the DPO of Itire Divisional Police Station, CSP Gilbert Odeh.
Few persons have been arrested over the incident and normalcy restored in the area, the police said.
“The Command will not tolerate any act from any quarters that will truncate the peaceful disposition of the Community,” the police said.
No life was lost in the clash.
