LASG commissions school infrastructure projects in Ojo

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, speaking at the commissioning through his Special Adviser on Labour and Industrial Relations, Comrade Babatunde Williams, disclosed that the role of education in the growth and development of a society cannot be undermined, hence the need for children to have access to quality education as well as an enabling environment.

“The vital role of education in the growth and development of a megacity like ours has made it imperative for us to ensure that our children have access to quality education and an enabling environment for excellent learning”, Governor Sanwo-Olu stated.

He noted that in order to accelerate students’ access to a world-class educational learning system, the State Government has aggressively embarked on the provision of blocks of classrooms, administrative offices, school furniture, laboratories and modern toilet facilities among others across the six educational districts as well as Local Government Areas.

This, according to him, is part of his administration’s commitment to ensuring that teaching and learning takes place in a conducive environment, noting that the State government will continue to make necessary provisions for new school structures as well as the rehabilitation of existing ones.

In her remarks, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, stated that the commissioning of the infrastructure is evidence of another promise fulfilled by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The Commissioner, who was represented by Mr. Oludare Victor Bababusola, a Director in Education District V, stated that the completed school infrastructure projects is one of the 1,097 projects completed by the present administration, reiterating the commitment of the present administration in upgrading learning and teaching infrastructure in the State.

Adefisayo thanked the various MDAs, including the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), Special Committee for the Rehabilitation of Public Schools (SCRPS), Lagos State Vocational Board and the Lagos State Infrastructure Management Agency (LASIAMA) among others.

While expressing their appreciation, the Principal of Community Senior Secondary School, Ojo, Mrs. Juliana Usoro; Principals of Senior and Junior Model Colleges, Ojo, Mrs. Odujoke Ajayi and Mrs. Oyebisi Adekanye respectively, as well as the Head Teacher of Local Authority Nursery/Primary School, Iba Town, Mrs. Elizabeth Adenusi commended the Governor for the infrastructural projects, stressing that it will help spread learning transformation in the State.

Also present at the event were the Baale of Ojo Kingdom, Alhaji Ariyo and the Education Secretary in Ojo LGA, Mr. Kola Abiola amongst others.
