The Managing Director, Honorable Ladi Balogun, highlighted the achievements of the waterways since 2019 at the inception of this administration.

He began by acknowledging the management staff’s efforts, expressing that without their meticulous services and contributions, this achievement would not have been possible.

Hon. Balogun also commended the media for projecting LAGFERRY’s image globally via social media platforms, thereby raising awareness about alternative transportation modes and boosting the state’s economic activities, while encouraging the Lagos state government to leverage waterways in alleviating transportation gridlocks within the state.

The State Agency’s chief executive noted that this has contributed to promoting the image of Lagos State, with LAGFERRY being ranked as the premier government agency of the Lagos State government.

He commended the efforts of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in augmenting the number of boat fleets from 7 in 2019 to 22 boats in 2021.

According to him, no state or national government has achieved this distinction within such a short timeframe. He also highlighted the importance of road connectivity among the three modes of transportation.

Honorable Ladi Balogun observed that following a decline in LAGFERRY’s revenue generation, which was examined at last year’s retreat, hosted by the Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue Generation, and subsequent consultations, the organization has experienced an improvement in revenue generation.

“Having acknowledged the potential of the waterways, how can we harness this potential to increase revenue, which is the rationale behind this year’s retreat”, he concluded.

In addition, Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, in her keynote address, educated and motivated management staff to enhance their daily activities, excel in their roles, and contribute to the organization’s growth.

She emphasized that, as the engine oil of the sector, they need to enhance themselves in knowledge, skills, and attitudes..

Also present were the chairmen of the two local governments where LAGFERRY operates daily, Honorable Prince Lanre Sanusi of Amuwo Odofin Local Government and Honorable Rasak Oloyede of Oriade LCDA.
