The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA in collaboration with its Stakeholders have devised fresh emergency response strategies to curb the high spate of emergencies and disasters in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Special Duties & Inter-Governmental Relations, Engineer Tayo Bamgbose-Martins has commended LASEMA and other Agencies supervised by the Ministry on their performances in the State.
He made this statement today at the *Quarterly Stakeholders’ Meeting* organised by LASEMA at the OPTS hall of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI, Nurudeen Olowopopo Road, Alausa Ikeja.

The Hon. Commissioner praised Mr.Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for providing the platform on which LASEMA and these agencies ride and excelled in this period of challenges exacerbated by the COVID -19 Pandemic.
He added that LASEMA has been able to successfully continue to discharge its onerous responsibilities of disaster management in Lagos State.

He also stated that the soon-to-be inaugurated LASEMA Epe Base will facilitate LASEMA’s operations in the Epe axis.
Engr. Tayo Bamgbose Martins, then urged the emergency responders to do more in order to forestall tragedy and reduce casualties.

In his remarks the DG/CEO LASEMA, Dr.Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the Stakeholders meeting with the theme; ‘Managing recent challenges in disaster management’ is intended to provide the Agency and its Stakeholders workable strategies to renew the confidence in collective ability, responsibility and capacity to rise up to any emergency and disaster challenges in the state.
The LASEMA Boss added that Mr.Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration has made paramount the welfare of residents of Lagos State, laying emphasis on disaster risk reduction and prevention, proof of which is establishing the LASEMA operations unit in the 57 Local Government Areas in the state.
This, Oke-Osanyintolu added, would help in sensitising local communities about disaster risk prevention, and also alert the Agency and first responders when a disaster occurs.
The LASEMA DG reiterated that the Agency and other first responders have been empowered and supported massively by Mr. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to serve residents better and the about-to-be commissioned LASEMA Epe Base Station is further proof of the Administration’s unwavering commitment in this direction.
Stakeholders at the meeting are Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Ambulance Service, Lagos State Safety Commission, the Red Cross, Lagos State Police Command, National Emergency Management Authority, Federal Road Safety Corps, Health Service Commission, amongst others.
