In recognition of a job well done in terms of adequate reportage and prompt traffic updates, the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information and Strategy, has commended the Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1 FM for helping Lagos State residents navigate the metropolis with ease.

The Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information and Strategy, Mr. Setonji David, gave the commendation when he led other members of the Committee on a courtesy visit to the Station as part of its oversight functions.

While promising support for Lagos Traffic Radio, David advised the Station not to lose track of its specialised role and called for more inclusion of Local Languages in its content and programming.

The Chairman justified the establishment of the Station, stressing that Lagos, with a population of over 20 million residents and a small landmass, needs a station like Lagos Traffic Radio to reduce the challenges that the people face on the roads.

David added that the Station is serving its purpose and playing a major role in the society as residents rely on its regular traffic reports to navigate easily across the State, advising the station to continue in its efforts and not rest on its oars by providing more initiatives in the delivery of traffic advisory.

Pledging unalloyed support of the Committee for the Station, the Chairman promised to help in resolving operational challenges and enhancing service delivery to its numerous listeners across the Lagos metropolis.

The Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, who was also a member of the visiting delegation, Mrs. Kehinde Alli-Macaulay, applauded the Station for its efforts, urging the Staff and Management to remain committed to improving traffic information dissemination.

While noting that many Lagosians are now ardent listeners of the Station and depend on its daily traffic reports for planning their journeys across the city of Lagos, Alli-Macaulay implored the Management of the Lagos Traffic Radio to continue to meet and surpass the expectations of its followers through effective and efficient service delivery.

Earlier, the General Manager of Lagos Traffic Radio, Mr.Tayo Akanle, said the Station, armed with its vision of being the Most Reliable Radio Station providing Traffic Information in Africa, has in the last two years expanded its scope of operations from Roads to the Waterways, Railways and Airlines.

Akanle stated that the Station has increased its audience on the Social Media Platforms from 4000 on Facebook in 2018 to 35000, due to its efforts in promoting the State Government activities and programmes as conceptualised in the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda.
