The Lagos State Lotteries Board has hosted the first Operators Awards Night and Dinner in recognition of the activities of gaming operators at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Board, Mr. Bashir Are in his opening remark said “I would like to thank our Licenced Operators for their commitment in ensuring that we not only met, but exceeded our targeted revenue. Your judicious and timely financial remittance has played an instrumental role in building the Lagos of our dream”.

Are also stated that “Year 2020 will be remembered in the minds and hearts of people for generations to come”.

The Lagos State Lotteries Board Chairman during the press interview noted that with the approval of Governor Sanwo-Olu the Board was able to assist a man with kidney transfer and embark on renovating of some primary and secondary schools, purchased specialized fire trucks to combat gas and chemical fire incidents in the state.

“Mr Governor also approved the construction of fire station in Ajegunle. All these projects were funded with the Good Causes Levies (GCL) from responsible gaming and lottery operators.

“Anything we do in life, if it’s not appreciated it get away from us, so for those licenced and fully compliant operators we need to appreciate them. Not only the money they are paying to the state but the employments they are also creating in the society, we have to appreciate them” the lottery boss opined.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on State Lotteries, Ms Olufunmilola Olotu in her press interview said “the Lagos State Lotteries Board was established in 2004 under the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu”.

Olotu noted that “one of the persons who led the team was the present Governor of Lagos State Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and that is one of the major reason we are able to surpass our target this year despite the COVID-19 pandemic”.

“The Governor has been very supportive because he was part of the vision and mission of the Lagos State Lotteries Board” she averred.

Some of the awardees include Sir Kensington Adebukunola Adebutu who bagged the Pioneer award and his outfit Premier Lotto PLC won the Outstanding Contribution.

Golden Chance Lotto won the Best Corroborative Award.

Under the online sports betting category, Bet 9ja went home with the Best Performing Award,

Naira Bet clinched the Online Sports Betting Pioneer Award.

The Best Customer-Centric award went to Betway, while 1xBet won the most improved operators award. The game changer award was carted away by Bet King.

Under the casino category Federal Palace Hotel edged others to pick the category A casino while 777 casino and Royal Partners picked the B and C categories respectively.

Outstanding contribution for gaming machine category went to Innovative Network.

Pools Category’s outstanding contribution was bagged by Rashall Investment Network.

The Promotional Category had Fidelity Bank winning the Banking sector, while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC won the FMCG. Dangote Cement PLC won for manufacturing and the telecom slot was bagged by MTN Nigeria.

Naija Bingo went home with the other games category.

Mr. Olasunkanmi Obasa of Winners Golden Chance owners of Golden Chance Lotto that bagged the Best Corroborative Award, on behalf of the awardees in a chat with Lagos Panorama said “I think this is very transparent, this is a sign that we are doing fine and it shows our relationship with the society, government and of course the industry. This will definitely spur us to do more” the Golden Chance representative concluded.
