Lagos Govt Announces Three-Week Diversion For Oke-Afa Bridge Repairs

The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of Oke-Afa Bridge in the Isolo area of the state to carry out rehabilitation works on the bridge for three weeks, from Friday, August 28, to September 18, 2026.

The state government said the rehabilitation would be executed in two phases, with the first phase covering the outbound Isolo-to-Ejigbo axis from August 28 to September 11, while the second phase would affect the inbound Ejigbo-to-Isolo section from September 12 to September 18.

According to a statement released by the state Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, during the first phase, motorists travelling from Isolo towards Ejigbo will be diverted onto the Isolo-bound carriageway from Pako Roundabout, where traffic will move in both directions before rejoining the main carriageway at Mobil Filling Station.

Motorists coming from Ejigbo will maintain free movement and share the carriageway with Ejigbo-bound traffic from Mobil Filling Station to Pako Roundabout, after which they will regain full access to the road.

For the second phase, motorists travelling from Ejigbo towards Isolo will be diverted onto the Ejigbo-bound carriageway from Mobil Filling Station, with traffic moving in both directions before rejoining the main carriageway at Pako Roundabout.

While motorists coming from Isolo would maintain free movement and share the carriageway with Isolo-bound traffic from Pako Roundabout to Mobil Filling Station before regaining full access to the road.

Osiyemi said the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed to the area to coordinate vehicular movement and minimise congestion during the rehabilitation.

He further explained that “An emergency tow vehicle will be stationed within the axis to provide quick recovery operations for breakdowns throughout the period of the works.”

The state government urged motorists to cooperate with traffic officials and exercise patience during the temporary closure.

“Motorists are implored to be patient, as the partial road closure forms part of the traffic management plan for the rehabilitation works on Oke-Afa Bridge, Isolo LGA,”.
