She also applauded the excellent academic performance of District II students, saying all the achievements of the district are results of hard work and teamwork.

She urged the Teachers and Principals to be focused, do better and develop more strategies that would guarantee continued success in the students’ performances so that no student would be left behind”.

Mrs. Adefisayo hinted that plans are being put in place to convert some government schools into all-inclusive schools in order to create an avenue for the development of technical skills in youths at an early age.

She said: “We need to let our students have choices and options in whatever they want to become in life. The world presently requires that people must be imbued with some technical skills, so we found it necessary to initiate a programme towards teaching students multiple skills that are in existence so that they will be able to choose from options in the future”.

“These skills will be an added advantage to their certificates. We are starting with a pilot for the schools to provide options for the students, ranging from Building Construction, Plumbing, Fashion, Photography and ICT. There will be opportunities for internships to enable them acquire more knowledge about their chosen vocation”, she added.

Adefisayo also commended the retirees of the district, just as she urged them to have concrete plans for their retirement days, saying it is not a time to sit down and do nothing but a time to be ready to maximise the opportunities that would come up while in retirement.

On her part, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS) Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, said the commissioned conference room was the first of its kind in any education district in the State and was designed to enhance deliberations.

She also applauded the retirees from the district for their past contributions to the education sector, assuring them that their pensions would not be delayed as the government has set all necessary machinery in motion to ensure a seamless payment of pension to its retirees.

TG/PS said: “The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured me to inform you that your pensions will be paid soon. You have spent your years in the service of the State and you deserve to enjoy your life in retirement”.

While thanking the Governor and the Commissioner for Education for their contributions to the development of the education sector in Lagos State, Adekanye averred that the ceremony was aimed at celebrating both students and teachers (retired or serving) for their contributions towards excellent results achieved by the students.

The Chairman, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr. Wahab Alawiye-King, said SUBEB is glad to be associated with the TG/PS and the district.

“I want to commend the TG/PS for the wonderful work she is doing to exhibit the State government’s investment in the education sector as seen in the academic performance of the students”, Alawiye-King noted.
