Lagos Council Election: Somolu APC leaders says Salawu is a collective decision of the party

The leaders of APC in Somolu had cleared the air on the issue of the chairmanship candidate of their party in the forthcoming Local Government Election in Somolu Local Government.

Thousands of APC members in Somolu defied the early morning heavy downpour to gathered at the APC organized special gathering to applaud the emergence of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu as the party’s flag bearer for the July 24 Local Government Election.

Addressing the pressmen, Hon. Dosu Matiluko who is the scribe of the party leaders in Somolu Federal Constituency, thanked the National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) members, especially Senator Anthony Adefuye for his consistent strive in ensuring the political space of Somolu is peacefully stabilized. He said the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadir Obafemi Hamzat has really done the party and state proud.

According to him, ‘APC in Somolu is a well-coordinated chapter of the party and their internal democracy is second to none’. He said steps to correct the errors of the past started in November 2019.

He emphasized that the party had reached a common front to ensure the current Council Chairman, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu re-run and complete his second term in office. “All the leaders of APC in Somolu had signed long before now that Dullar should complete his second term so that they could approach the polls as a team together as they do not want to be disunited for Chairmanship reasons”, Matiluko said.

However, Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Somolu Constituency 1, Hon. Rotimi Olowo said the Lagos State chapter of APC should be applauded for ensuring the wish of the people of Somolu is honoured by the emergence of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu as the party’s Candidate. He said since November 2019, the leaders has decided to return Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu for the second term due to his giant strides in grassroots development.

Apostle Peter Oyewusi (Chairman of Somolu & Bariga APC Apex Leaders), Hon. Demola Olisa (former Scribe of Somolu Local Government), Alhaji F. A. Bakare, Olorogun Gbolahan Bagostowe (former Council Chairman of Somolu Local Government), Engr. Abiodun Orekoya (Commissioner, Lagos State Local Government Service Commission), Hon. Williams Lawanson (former Sole Administrator of Somolu Local Government), Alhaji Saheed Bello, Deacon Femi Taiwo (Somolu APC Caretaker Chairman), Mrs. Omotanwa Salawu (Chairperson), Chief Mrs. Bosede Ogunlaja, Hon. Abiola Fashoro (Acting APC Women Leader, Lagos East), Hon. Adekunle Ekiyemi (APC Vice Chairmanship Candidate of Somolu Local Government), Hon. Rasaq Tajudeen, Prince Adeshina Adeeso (DG, Dullar Continua Initiative) as well as numerous stakeholders of APC in Somolu were also in attendance.

Artisans, CAN, NURTW, NUT, Somolu Muslim Community, people with disabilities, market Women and men, NYCN, Hausas, Igbos, South-South indigenes, community and religious leaders among other interest groups attended the meeting in large numbers who conspicuously displayed their support for the party’s Candidate in Somolu, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu.
