The All Progressives Congress in Lagos State on March 6, 2026, formally inaugurated its newly elected State Executive Committee members who will oversee the party’s affairs for the next four years.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the party’s State Secretariat on Acme Road in Ogba. Proceedings began with a minute of silence in honour of the late Assistant Publicity Secretary, Hon. Yesiru Karamo.
In his remarks, the State Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, congratulated the new executives and charged them with the responsibility of strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ojelabi emphasised the need for discipline, unity and total commitment to the party’s ideals, urging the officials to avoid factional affiliations and focus on representing the interests of the party across their respective local governments.
He further advised them to return to their local government areas and work closely with party chairmen to identify challenges and strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.
The chairman also encouraged the newly sworn-in executives to familiarise themselves with the party’s constitution and ensure that their actions remain in strict compliance with its provisions, noting that their tenure comes at a crucial period leading up to the 2027 elections.
According to him, the party leadership will soon organise training programmes for Local Government and Ward Chairmen, as well as Women and Youth Leaders, to equip them with the necessary skills and understanding required for the tasks ahead.
Ojelabi added that state officers also have the responsibility to guide and caution party officials at the local government and ward levels whenever their actions run contrary to the party’s constitution.
The oath of office was administered to the 35-member State Executive Committee by Barrister Nike Coker.
