The Lagos State Governor elect Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo Olu distributed largesse to felicitate with all the 20 Local Government councils and 37 Local Council Development Areas  of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State in appreciation for their supports during the party’s primaries and the last general elections. The event which was made to coincide with the Easter celebration was scheduled to take place simultaneously in all the local governments of the party in Lagos State.

On Easter Monday Lagos Panorama crew captured activities at the Ikeja Local Government.

In Ward C at the Onilekere Primary School venue where the LGA Chairman domiciled our correspondent interviewed the party chieftain.

Mayegun Dally Adeokun expressed his gratitude to the Governor elect. He said “The Governor elect sent logistics to all party’s Local Government, he directed that we should host the much anticipated victory party today Easter Monday across the 20 local governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas. In ikeja our expectation is about 2000 members so we decided to decentralize it, with minimum of 250-300 members per ward to eat, drink, dance, celebrate and thank God for our party’s victory at the last general elections”.

Adeokun also noted that “the Governor elect have started well, he shows he is the man of the people and we hope he will improve on Lagos State infrastructures for a better wellbeing of Lagosians”.

The former Executive Secretary advised the governor elect “Ikeja as the capital of Lagos State needs improvement on our roads. For example here in Onilekere/Onipetesi ward; we have over 70 roads but hardly can you get 10 that are motor-able. So we are going to appeal to the governor-elect to consider particularly the over 6 key roads in Onilekere/Onipetesi Ward. The local government cannot do it except with the state government intervention. Some of this roads are Ogunsolu, Moshesha, Oba Gunwa, Saidu, Ebunoluwa in Onilekere. In Onipetesi we have Michael Akinola. We also need a link bridge between the 2 communities so we would not have to go and turn in Agege to drive within the 2 neighbouring communities. So we are looking forward to the Governor to assist in this direction and we believe he will do it” the Chairman APC Ikeja concluded.

The Ward A (Orile-Ikeja) venue took place at the Tokunbo Alli Primary School with hundreds of APC party leaders, members and well-wishers were all in a celebration mood. The ward Chairman Alhaji Saheed Ekundayo while in a chat with our correspondent expressed his gratitude to GOD for the victory recorded by the party in the last general elections.

Saheed noted that “Our people worked tenaciously during the last general elections so our Governor elect His Excellency Babajide Olusola Sanwo Olu decided to appreciate party faithfuls to coincide with the Easter Celebration”.

The Ward Women Leader Mrs. Anuoluwa Ogundana-Bakare noted that “this is double celebration for all members of APC in Lagso State and she advised Mr. Sanwo Olu to ensure that women and youths should be of paramount in his administration. She noted that “Our in-coming Governor should empower women and youths with skills acquisition programmes and loan to setup their own small scale businesses” the women leader advised.

Other wards also had series of fanfare and jamboree for the Governor elect and other elected public officers under the APC in Lagos State. The signs are there to assure all of us that this new tenure shall be rewarding to us all and our efforts shall not be in vain.
