Lagos APC Dismisses ADC’s 2027 Ambition, Calls Takeover Claim “Political Fantasy”

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sharply criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its recent call for citizens’ support to “take over Lagos in 2027,” describing the opposition party’s statement as unrealistic and lacking substance.

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sharply criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its recent call for citizens’ support to “take over Lagos in 2027,” describing the opposition party’s statement as unrealistic and lacking substance.

In a strongly worded response issued on Sunday, APC spokesperson Hon. Seye Oladejo said the ADC’s takeover claim amounted to “political daydreaming,” arguing that the party lacks the structure, capacity, and electoral presence required to mount any serious challenge in the state.

Oladejo stated that Lagos, widely regarded as a model for governance and innovation in Nigeria, “is not a training ground for political apprentices,” insisting that performance—not rhetoric—remains the determinant of electoral success in the state.

He said the ADC should first demonstrate basic organizational capability before aspiring to govern a state of over 20 million people, adding that the party “struggles to sustain ward meetings” and has no verifiable record of strong electoral performance.

According to the APC, Lagosians have consistently supported the party due to what it described as decades of continuity, competence, and infrastructural development under successive administrations beginning from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the current government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The ruling party further dismissed the ADC’s engagement efforts as “social media theatrics,” questioning the opposition party’s readiness for governance in the absence of what it termed a clear blueprint or credible candidates.

Oladejo maintained that the APC remains firmly rooted at the grassroots and committed to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He concluded that Lagos is “not in play” ahead of the 2027 elections and expressed confidence that the state would remain a stronghold of progressive politics.
