The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a public notification disclaiming any involvement in an online message soliciting personal information, including sensitive banking and identification details, from ethnic coordinators and group members under the pretext of stipend payments purportedly authorized by State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.
In a statement obtained by Lagos Panorama on Friday, Spokesperson of the party, Mogaji Seye Oladejo issued a disclaimer, asserting “We categorically state that this message is false, fraudulent, and mischievous”.
“At no time did our State Chairman or any organ of our party issue such a directive. The Lagos APC does not conduct its affairs through indiscriminate collection of sensitive data such as BVN, NIN, or voter cards, nor do we distribute stipends in the manner suggested”.
Oladejo further stated “This is clearly the handiwork of scammers who are out to exploit unsuspecting individuals and drag the name of our party into disrepute. We urge the general public, particularly our members across all groups and ethnic fora, to ignore, disregard, and treat this message as fraudulent”.
“For the avoidance of doubt, any official communication from the Lagos APC will be disseminated only through established party structures, verified channels, and authorised spokespersons. Members are strongly advised not to share their personal or financial information with unknown persons under any circumstances”.
“We call on security agencies to track down the perpetrators of this criminal attempt and bring them to justice”.
“The Lagos APC remains committed to transparency, inclusivity, and integrity in all its operations” Oladejo affirmed.
