The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a strong warning to party officials against the unauthorized endorsement of aspirants ahead of its primaries.

In a statement released by the State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the party condemned reports that some Local Government Chairmen have been publicly presenting certain aspirants as “consensus candidates” by raising their hands at events.

Describing the actions as inappropriate and unacceptable, the party noted that such conduct undermines the core values of internal democracy, fairness, and due process. It further warned that these premature endorsements risk creating tension, suspicion, and division within party ranks at a critical time when unity and discipline are essential.

The chairman emphasized that the Lagos APC has not released any official guidelines, directives, or timetable for the forthcoming primaries. As such, any attempt to project or anoint candidates is deemed premature, misleading, and without the party’s approval.

Ojelabi stressed that the party would not hesitate to take disciplinary action against any official who continues to engage in such unauthorized activities.

He reassured all qualified party members interested in contesting elective positions that the APC remains committed to ensuring a level playing field, free from intimidation or undue influence.

Reaffirming its commitment to justice, equity, and transparent democratic processes, the party urged all officials expected to act as impartial umpires during the primaries to maintain strict neutrality in the interest of unity, cohesion, and credibility.
