
The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Friday hosted an Interfaith Breaking of Fast at the Marriage Registry Hall of the Ikeja Local Government Secretariat, bringing together religious leaders, traditional rulers and political stakeholders in a show of unity and communal harmony.
The gathering, the second of its kind during the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent, attracted key figures from across the Ikeja community in a demonstration of religious tolerance and shared commitment to peaceful coexistence.

Among those in attendance were leaders of the Ikeja chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), led by Chief Mobolaji Ganiyu, popularly known as Soku Sembe. Also present were traditional rulers including the Regent of Ikeja, High Chief Isiaka Apena; the Baale of Alausa, Chief Toyin Mufutau Badmus; the Baale of Anifowoshe, Chief Semiu; as well as other respected community leaders.
Speaking at the event, Dauda expressed appreciation to the guests for honouring the invitation and noted that the initiative was aimed at strengthening unity, peace and collaboration among stakeholders within the local government area.
He commended the traditional rulers for their continued support and prayers towards the growth and development of Ikeja, while also acknowledging the contributions of the NURTW members to maintaining order within the council area.

The chairman urged the transport union members to sustain their efforts in promoting orderly conduct and ensuring improved traffic management across the locality.
The event was attended by the Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Abisola Omisore; the Leader of the Ikeja Legislative Council, Hon. Rasheed Ogunseye; councillors representing Wards B to F; the Secretary to the Local Government, Prince Yinka Illo; and several political leaders from Ikeja, Ojodu and Onigbongbo.

Others present included the APC Chairman in Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Adetoro Adebowale; the APC Chairperson in Ojodu, Alhaja Olusola Kokumo; Hon. Yomi Balogun; Olori Lola Bashorun; Alhaji Kehinde Onifade; Dr. Bayo Ayo; and Barrister Ajala Ganiyu Olawale (A.G.O), among other notable personalities.
The event concluded with the symbolic breaking of the fast, prayers for peace and prosperity, and renewed commitments by stakeholders to work collectively towards the continued development of the Ikeja community.
