The Forum of Past Councillors (FPC), Ikeja Federal Constituency Chapter, on Friday held its monthly meeting at the new secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ojodu LCDA, with deliberations focused on the recent ward congress and ongoing stakeholder consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, presided over by the Forum’s Chairman, Hon. Edward Aragbonfoh, JP, featured an appraisal of the APC ward congress conducted across wards within the constituency. Members commended the party leadership for what they described as the peaceful and successful exercise, which produced new ward executives and delegates for the constitution of local government executives.
The Forum also congratulated its Grand Patron, James Abiodun Faleke, on his recent appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Renewed Hope Ambassador and Deputy Secretary for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation. Members expressed appreciation for his continued leadership and support for the Forum.
Similarly, the Forum congratulated Hon. Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Governor of Lagos State, and Hon. Nurudeen Basheer, an immediate past councillor of Alausa Ward F, Ikeja LGA, on their appointments as State Coordinator and Ikeja Federal Constituency Coordinator, respectively, of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors initiative. The Forum pledged its support towards the success of the initiative and the party’s electoral objectives in 2027.
A highlight of the meeting was a consultative visit by Hon. (Barrister) Olawale Ajala, who was accompanied by Hon. (Alh.) Funmi Layeni, Executive Vice Chairman of Ojodu LCDA; Hon. Bunmi Oluyadi, immediate past Executive Vice Chairman of Ojodu LCDA; and Hon. Olayiwola “Jagaban.”
In his remarks, Ajala said his visit formed part of ongoing consultations with party stakeholders in Ikeja II Constituency, as he prepares to seek the APC ticket for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat in the 2027 elections. He outlined his political journey, acknowledged the contributions of past and present representatives of the constituency, and assured members of his commitment to effective representation if given the opportunity.
He emphasised that the visit was purely consultative and expressed his intention to return for formal campaign engagements in line with guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and party directives.
Speaking at the meeting, Layeni and Oluyadi reiterated that Ajala’s engagement with the Forum was part of broader consultations within the party structure.
In his response, Aragbonfoh commended Ajala for consulting the Forum and acknowledged his longstanding loyalty and service to the party, wishing him well in his aspiration. Other members also offered brief remarks.
The meeting concluded with prayers, a vote of thanks and a group photograph.
