Itire–Ikate Chairman Celebrates 365 Days of Impact with Vehicles for Vice Chairman, Lawmakers and Landmark Empowerment Initiatives
LAGOS, August 13, 2026 — The Itire–Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has celebrated the first anniversary of the administration of its Executive Chairman, Hon. Oluwafemi Daniel Odunayo, highlighting a year of transformative projects, grassroots development, empowerment initiatives and people-centred governance.
The anniversary celebration, held to mark 365 days in office, brought together residents, community leaders, traditional rulers, political stakeholders, government officials, members of the Legislative Arm, public servants, media practitioners and other stakeholders to reflect on the administration’s achievements and milestones over the past year.
A major highlight of the celebration was the presentation of official vehicles to the Vice Chairman, Hon. Yetunde Jimba; the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Councillor Olaoluwa Andrew Agbeyangi; and members of the Legislative Arm of the Council.
The administration also rolled out a series of empowerment and social intervention initiatives as part of the anniversary activities.
Among them was the presentation of ₦100,000 cash palliatives to beneficiaries, aimed at providing immediate financial relief and support to vulnerable residents.
In the education sector, GCE forms were presented to indigent students, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities and supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Members of the Environmental Task Force also received new uniforms as part of efforts to strengthen environmental management and improve the effectiveness and visibility of the council’s environmental operations.
The anniversary celebration also featured a special recognition of the council’s youth constituency, with the administration commending the energy, creativity and contributions of young people to community development in commemoration of International Youth Day.
Reflecting on the administration’s first year in office, the council highlighted its interventions in grassroots development, infrastructural renewal, improved service delivery, community empowerment, environmental management, education and social welfare.
The administration noted that the achievements recorded over the past 365 days were made possible through the collective efforts of the council workforce, community leaders, residents, traditional institutions, political stakeholders and development partners.
Speaking on the milestone, Odunayo reaffirmed his administration’s determination to consolidate the gains of the past year and pursue more initiatives capable of delivering sustainable development and meaningful dividends of democracy to residents of Itire–Ikate LCDA.
He expressed appreciation to residents and stakeholders for their support, cooperation and contributions to the administration’s progress, assuring them of continued commitment to inclusive governance and improved quality of life.
The council said the first anniversary marks not an end point, but a renewed beginning as the administration moves into another phase with greater emphasis on development, empowerment, stronger community engagement and people-oriented service delivery.
