Flamingos cruise into round of 16 after 4–0 victory over Samoa

Nigeria’s U-17 Women’s National Team, the Flamingos, have advanced to the Round of 16 at the ongoing 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, following a convincing 4–0 victory over Samoa in their final Group Stage match.

The dominant performance saw Queen Joseph open the scoring in the 12th minute and later double Nigeria’s lead with her second goal in the 34th minute. Shakirat Moshood added another from the penalty spot in the 28th minute, while Azeezat Odutan sealed the win with a composed finish in the 67th minute.

The result secured Nigeria’s qualification as one of the best third-placed teams, marking another milestone for the coach-led side in their quest for glory.

The Flamingos displayed excellent teamwork, technical discipline, and attacking flair throughout the encounter, leaving no doubt about their intent to go far in the competition.

With growing confidence and momentum, the Nigerian girls will now shift focus to their Round of 16 clash, as they continue their pursuit of the country’s first-ever FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup title.
