FG to Name Terror Sponsors Publicly as Tinubu Intensifies National Security Crackdown

The Federal Government says it is set to publish the names of individuals, organisations, and financial networks linked to the funding of terrorism in Nigeria, as part of renewed efforts to dismantle violent groups threatening national stability.

The Federal Government says it is set to publish the names of individuals, organisations, and financial networks linked to the funding of terrorism in Nigeria, as part of renewed efforts to dismantle violent groups threatening national stability.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, confirmed the development, noting that Nigerians will “soon witness bold national security measures in action.”

“In the coming days, Nigerians will know who the terrorists are and those funding them,” Bwala said.

According to him, terrorism in Nigeria has evolved beyond local criminality and is now deeply connected to a growing international network. He stressed that global cooperation is required to combat the spread of extremist cells across the Sahel region.

“Extremist networks that once dominated the Middle East have shifted towards the Sahel, creating dangerous hubs that threaten West African stability,” he noted, adding that this shift has prompted stronger commitments from international partners.

Bwala said the Tinubu administration has intensified intelligence gathering and tightened efforts to identify and disrupt domestic financial channels supporting terrorism.

He also dismissed allegations of genocide in Nigeria as baseless, insisting that violence does not target any single religious or ethnic group.

“President Tinubu is committed to protecting every Nigerian, regardless of faith or ethnicity,” he said, pointing to expanded security deployments and enhanced joint operations across troubled areas.

In 2024, Nigeria publicly identified 21 individuals and six Bureau de Change operators as terror financiers, a move that resurfaced in 2025 amid heightened global attention following comments by US President Donald Trump.

Bwala’s latest announcement underscores the government’s resolve to strengthen transparency and confront the networks fueling insecurity nationwide.
