Some persons with injuries on Friday stormed the Lagos Court of Arbitration in Lekki, the hearing venue of the Lagos State Panel of Judicial Inquiry, probing the alleged shooting of protesters by soldiers on the night of October 20 at the Lekki Tollgate.
The injured persons, who came to the panel in a white bus, claimed they were victims of the alleged shootings at the Tollgate.
They were accompanied by a banner-carrying group, ‘New Nigeria Network’.
Fourteen of them claimed they were shot at Lekki Toll Gate on the evening of October 20, while one was said to have been shot at Ojodu Berger.
The spokesperson for the group, a lady, said, “We have people with amputated legs; we have people with brain surgery in this van; we have dozens of them that are yet to be discharged. This is from Lekki Tollgate massacre 2020. We want justice. We don’t want to be silenced; we don’t want to be marginalised even in our own country.”
In their entourage was Mr Nathaniel Solomon, whose younger brother, Abouta Solomon, was said to have been allegedly shot dead at the Tollgate.
Solomon said the deceased has since been buried in his hometown in Mubi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Also in the entourage, was Aiyedungbe Olufunmi Grace, who alleged that his brother died at LASUTH after suffering gunshot wounds on the head.
Grace told newsmen that after her brother’s death, the hospital authorities changed the story and said he died of COVID-19.
The Nigerian Army has denied allegations that it shot at #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate. It however admitted to have “merely fired blanks into the air to disperse stone throwers.”
