Eid el Kabir: Ajah Muslim cleric, leaders preach peace, demand upgrade of Baale to Oba

As part of the Eid el Kabir 2025 celebrations, community leaders in Ajah, Lagos State, have stressed the need for peace, love, and unity, and requested that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu consider upgrading the Baale to Oba.

Muhammadu-Fatiu Adamson, Chief Imam of Ajah, emphasized the importance of peace, love, and unity among Muslim faithful during his remarks at the Eid el Kabir prayers held at Ajah Idi prayer ground, highlighting their role in fostering sustainable development within the communarea

Additionally, the Chief -Imam appealed to the government to upgrade the office of Baale Ajah to a full-fledged Oba, thereby enhancing community development in the area.

“Our community has grown beyond Baale rulership, we want our Baale to be upgraded to full time Oba to facilitate more infrastructural development to the Ajah community,” he said

He also advised residents to maintain peaceful coexistence and promote unity, love, and service to God.

In his goodwill message, the Baale of Ajah Community Chief Ishola Adewale, appreciated the community residents for their unity and peaceful coexistence.

Adewale highlighted that the essence of the Eid el Kabir celebration was to exhibit love to neighbours, relatives and friends through selfless service to God.

The traditional leader reiterated the need for the government to provide a general hospital for the Ajah community in view of the increasing population on a daily basis.

“This year Eid el Kabir is another opportunity for us to show love and care for our relations, friends and community people to ensure more bond in the community and the country at large”.

He conveyed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for their efforts to provide sustainable development at the grassroots.

He also seeks government’s attention “We appeal to the government to come to our aid by providing a general hospital for us in Ajah community as the population keeps increasing daily,” he said.

Hon. Azeez Ismael, Executive Vice Chairman of Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), stated that Eid el Kabir’s significance entails praying to the Almighty and showing love to fellow community members.

Ismael appealed to the government to intervene in Ajah’s administration and requested that the state government upgrade the Baale of Ajah’s position to a full Oba.

“We thank governor Sanwo-Olu for his full support for the community development and we are still appealing to him to come to our aid by lifting our Baale to the Kingship position.

“Our community is peaceful, we are peace loving people that’s why we are saying it in one voice that we need to upgrade our Baale to full time Oba in Ajah.

The Baale of Ajah Land, Chief Ishola Adewale, together with the Chief-Imam, Muhammadu-Fatiu Adamson, and other Muslim faithful, made a symbolic visit to the iconic Ajah Central Mosque, which was established in 1812 and underwent remodeling in 1973.
