EFCC officials arrested former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha after a siege on his home for more than six hours.

He was arrested around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night at his residence in the Maitama district of Abuja.

He was arrested minutes after security forces fired tear gas to disperse protesters who did not want the ex-governor’s arrest.

This medium observed Mr. Okorocha being dragged into a white Hilux vehicle by armed security forces.

Dozens of protesters stormed the home of Rochas Okorocha in Abuja to protest the security siege on the former governor’s home.

The siege on Mr Okorocha’s home began around 11:30 am when dozens of security forces arrived at the Abuja residence.

During the siege, Mr. Okorocha addressed some journalists inside and claimed that the EFCC was trying to thwart his presidential ambitions. He specifically accused the anti-graft agency of preventing him from attending the screening of APC presidential hopefuls in Abuja.

The screening was supposed to take place on Tuesday but was later postponed indefinitely. Mr. Okorocha is one of 25 APC presidential hopefuls seeking the party’s ticket.
