Delta Police Break Cult Network, Recover Arms — 18 Suspects Arraigned in Ongoing Statewide Operations

The Delta State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on cultism, illicit firearms, and drug-related offences, recording significant breakthroughs in recent days.

The latest operations, carried out under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda, include the recovery of firearms in Abraka and the arraignment of 18 suspects linked to illicit drug activities.

Arms Recovery in Abraka

On December 6, 2025, officers of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, conducted an intelligence-driven operation at Umeghe Community in Abraka. Acting on credible information, operatives searched the residence of 67-year-old Isiakpere Friday, where they recovered two pump-action guns and 39 live cartridges.

The suspect is currently in custody as investigators probe his possible connections to cult groups, arms suppliers, and other criminal networks across Delta State.

Eighteen Suspects Arraigned Over Illicit Drug Activities

In a separate operation targeting drug abuse and distribution, operatives of the Command’s Buffalo Unit concluded a series of coordinated raids at identified hotspots, including the Play-Learn area, Sweet Spirit axis, and Pinnacle Junction.

The sustained operation led to the arrest and arraignment of 18 male suspects on December 5, 2025. Those arraigned include:

Wisdom Nwanze (38), Godspower Vincent (25), Trust Bobua (17), David Mifford (21), Friday Daniel (35), Emmanuel Dakuru (25), Innatji Ekenea (27), Umar Isah (22), Samuel Hosanna (31), Rabiu Abubakar (31), Dada Usman (22), Dada Usman (20), Danjuma Jonathan (31), Onyeka Solomon (16), Garba Abdullaman (20), Rolniho Paul (26), Abwal Clarius (30), and Aliyu Abubarka (22).

All suspects have been remanded pending the fulfilment of their bail conditions.

Police Reaffirm Commitment to Public Safety

Commissioner Abaniwonda commended the officers involved, describing the operations as clear evidence of the Command’s strengthened reliance on intelligence-led policing. He reiterated that the Command will continue to clamp down on cultism, arms trafficking, and drug-related crimes, stressing that no group or individual will be allowed to undermine public peace in Delta State.

He also encouraged residents to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing security efforts.
