Crisis looms in the Super Falcons camp as Asisat Oshola have reacted to her removal as Captain of the female national team and she accused unnamed player for ‘Praying And Fasting’ to be made captain

There are indication that, once again, the Super Falcons is sliding into another crisis that could consume her ambition to retain the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations WAFCON

With the tournament set to commence from 2nd to 23rd July this year in Morocco, there are indications that the defending champions, Super Falcons would have a divided house after the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF on Thursday stripped Asisat Oshola of the teams captaincy.

However, the FC Barcelona Femini striker have reacted to k her removal as the captain of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, expressing her frustration at the President Amaju Pinnick-led board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)bad well as acussing Unamed Player of “praying and fasting” for the armband.

The Africa Footballer of the year holder was stripped of the Nigeria women’s team captainship on Thursday, according to reports from the camp of the Super Falcons in Canada.

Oshoala was named Super Falcons captain in September 2019 by Chris Danjuma after captain of the team at the time, Desire Oparanozie was stripped off the armband following a contention with the NFF.

Danjuma had handed Oshoala the armband, after stripping Desire Oparanozie, following her fallout with the Nigerian football authorities, having led a sit-in protest at the 2019 World Cup showpiece I’m France

The Barcelona star, who vice-captained the Super Falcons at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, was elevated to the captaincy post on September 17, 2019, but 30 months later, the reigning and record-equaling four-time Africa Women’s Player of the Year has now been relieved of her leadership role.

“When somebody openly said she fasted and prayed against the captain band, how we wan do na? Check everybody wey collect after her, how far?” Oshoala said while reacting to the news on Twitter.

Oshoala also retweeted a user’s tweet, who criticised Pinnick, calling him “A flyover head man.”

“Na that flyover head man @PinnickAmaju I blame. I think it’s also time for players to pick their desired captain.

“It’s not a competition you did the same with @NGSuperEagles. That’s why your tenure no good thing don happen. You Dey find bilateral relationship Brwn Qatar.”

The change of captainship comes just a few days before Nigeria’s 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations build-up games against Olympic champions Canada in two-legged ties on 8 and 11 April respectively in British Columbia.

A delegation of the Super Falcons left Nigeria on Tuesday night and connected a flight from Frankfurt to Vancouver on Wednesday. The other players are to fly direct to Vancouver from their bases in Europe and the American continent.

The Nigerian senior women’s national team will clash with reigning Olympic champions Canada in two friendly matches that will hold over three days in the cities of Vancouver and Victoria City.

Report indicates that oldest player in the team, Onome Ebi, (will be 39 in May) is tipped to take over the armband and will be assisted by Francisca Ordega.
