In a commanding display, Nigeria Women’s Football League champions Edo Queens started their campaign in the CAF Women’s Champions League on a sound note with a comprehensive defeat of Commercial Bank Ethiopia FC 3-0, launching their campaign.

This win signifies their inaugural success in the tournament. The match started vigorously, with Emmen Essien netting the opening goal in the 5th minute. Folashade Ijamilusi added to the tally in the 54th minute, and Chukwuamaka Goodness Osigwe sealed the victory in the 81st minute.

Throughout, Edo Queens showcased their dominance.

Folashade Florence made it 2-0 for the WAFU B champions midway into the second half before Osigwe netted the 3rd goal to give the Nigerian side a comfortable victory.

They currently top Group B with 3 points and 3 goals, due to a better goal difference.

Emmen Essien received Woman of the Match accolades for her exceptional showing.

Masar FC of Egypt produced a shocking result earlier in the day with a narrow 1-0 win over the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.
