The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the full fixtures for the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, following the conclusion of the group stage.
According to the fixtures published on CAF’s official website on Wednesday, the knockout phase will be played from Saturday, January 3, to Tuesday, January 6, 2026, with two matches scheduled daily at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. local time.
The Round of 16 will kick off on Saturday with 2021 champions Senegal taking on Sudan at the Grand Stade de Tangier. This will be followed by a clash between Mali and Tunisia in Casablanca, as Mali continue their quest for a maiden continental title while Tunisia aim to add to their lone AFCON triumph in 2004.
On Sunday, hosts Morocco will face Tanzania at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat. Morocco topped Group A, while Tanzania advanced as one of the four best third-placed teams from Group C. Later the same day, South Africa will meet Cameroon in Rabat, a high-profile encounter that will see Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos come up against the Indomitable Lions, whom he led to AFCON glory in 2017.
Monday’s fixtures will see record seven-time champions Egypt take on Benin at the Grand Stade de Agadir, as the Pharaohs continue their search for a first continental title since 2010. In the late match, Nigeria—one of the standout teams of the group stage—will face Mozambique in Fès, with the Super Eagles targeting an improvement on their silver-medal finish at AFCON 2023.
The Round of 16 will conclude on Tuesday, with Algeria battling DR Congo in Rabat, before defending champions Côte d’Ivoire face Burkina Faso at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.
CAF also confirmed that the quarter-final matches will be played on January 9 and 10, while the final is scheduled for January 18 at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat.
