CAC Eruku Abduction: Kidnappers Demand ₦100 Million Ransom Per Victim

The bandits who abducted 38 worshippers from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦100 million for each victim.

According to Leadership, the kidnappers have begun contacting families of the abducted worshippers, who were taken during a Tuesday evening service.

Confirming the development on Thursday, November 20, the Olori Eta of Eruku, Chief Olusegun Olukotun, revealed that four of his relatives were among those abducted. Olukotun, who narrowly escaped with one of his wards by exiting through a window around 6:06 p.m., said the captors have started reaching out to various families in the community.

“From what we gathered from the kidnappers’ camp, they have grouped the victims according to their family ties and are calling community members one group after another. Some families have received calls demanding ₦100 million per person. I have not yet been contacted about my own people, so I am still waiting,” he said.

The armed men had invaded the church on Tuesday, November 18, during a worship session. The attack left five people dead, while 38 worshippers were taken away.

Security agencies and local vigilante groups are said to be intensifying efforts to locate the victims and ensure their safe return.
