Barcelona Survive Brugge Scare in 3–3 Draw
Belgium, Barcelona and Club Brugge shared the spoils in a pulsating 3–3 draw at the Jan Breydel Stadium, as the Spanish side came from behind three times to snatch a point.
An own goal by 20-year-old Joaquin Seys in the 77th minute earned Barcelona the equaliser after a chaotic encounter filled with end-to-end action.
Brugge struck first through Nicolo Tresoldi in the 6th minute after a blistering counter-attack led by Carlos Forbs, who later doubled the lead in the 17th minute.
Ferran Torres pulled one back for Barcelona almost immediately, before teenager Lamine Yamal scored a brilliant solo effort to make it 2–2. But Brugge reclaimed the advantage again through Forbs, punishing Barcelona’s high defensive line.
Barcelona’s persistence paid off when Seys inadvertently headed into his own net under pressure, rescuing the visitors a crucial point.
Late drama ensued when Romeo Vermant thought he had secured the winner for Brugge in stoppage time, only for VAR to rule out the goal for a foul on goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny.
Barcelona now sits 11th in the overall group standings with seven points, while Club Brugge occupies 22nd position on four points — both sides still in contention for a knockout berth.
Ferran Torres admitted after the match:
“They created so much danger on the counter and we should have done better. We reacted well, but when you’re chasing the game, it’s always tough.”
