…Says Case Of Defilement Being Investigated

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu has doused the tension generated by a report on planned release of Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha, from custody.

Baba Ijesha is being held in custody following a viral report and subsequent video where he was seen molesting a 14-year-old girl.

Social media space had been set on fire, especially from fellow colleagues of Baba Ijesha who protested against his planned release.

Addressing a press conference on the issue, Odumosu said though the crime committed by the actor is a serious one which the law frowns at, it is, however, a bailable offence.

He said the case of molestation to which Baba Ijesha had already admitted committing, had been established, while the case of alleged defilement perpetrated about seven years ago is being investigated.

He clarified that unlike rape cases, the offence of assault is bailable.
