Leaders, stakeholders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeja Ward E, comprising Ipodo/Seriki Aro, turned out in large numbers to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the party’s presidential primary.
The consensus exercise, supervised by the LGA Party Chairman, Hon. Toro Adebowale, Party Chieftain and Chairman Governing Council, Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Engr. Kehinde Akinola, Comrade Tayo Aderinola, Supervisor for Agriculture and Social Services Ikeja Local Government Council, and other leaders in Ikeja, was conducted peacefully and successfully.
Speaking after the exercise, Engr. Akinola commended party leaders and members for their discipline, unity and commitment to democratic principles.
He reaffirmed the ward’s support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid, stressing that the President deserves another opportunity based on his bold economic reforms and commitment to national development.
He further praised Tinubu’s visionary leadership, particularly the implementation of financial autonomy and direct monthly allocations to local governments, which he noted have significantly boosted the financial capacity of councils to execute impactful infrastructural projects, strengthen grassroots governance and improve service delivery.
Engr. Akinola expressed confidence that President Tinubu would emerge victorious in the 2027 general election regardless of any opposition coalition.
Engr. Akinola affirmed “We are all proud of the President. He has taken bold steps that many of his predecessors could not take. Through his reforms, more funds are now available to Local Governments, bringing governance closer to the grassroots and the people”.
“Though there are still challenges, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done exceedingly well. Across Nigeria, infrastructural development is ongoing, while policies aimed at economic growth and national development continue to take shape”.
Also speaking, President’s Agent at the primary in Ward E, Comrade Tayo Aderinola applauded the party for adopting the Option A4 system for the primary, describing it as the most transparent and credible form of democratic process.
According to him, the process ensures that whoever emerges as the party’s candidate enjoys the confidence and support of the people ahead of the general election.
At the end of the exercise, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was returned unopposed as the APC consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, polling a total of 2,037 votes in Ikeja Ward E at the Oluwaleyinmu Sports Center, Ikeja.
