ANAN Ikeja celebrates 14th Annual Lecture, Dinner, awards night

The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Ikeja Branch has celebrated the 14th Annual Public Lecture, Dinner and Awards Night on Friday at the Martino’s Events Centre, Otunba Jobi Fele Way, CBD, Ikeja, Lagos.

The Branch Chairman, Mr. Bernard Akinnola in his opening remark said “this event is a progressive continuation of the brilliant idea of the founding fathers of this branch about fourteen years ago, aimed at breathing the breath of oneness, love and unity on the entire members of the branch and also our well-wishers, both home and abroad” he averred.

Chairman of the event Hon Solaja-Saka Nurudeen, who is the Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts State at the LSHA and Chairman House Committee on Public Account Local, Hon Fatai Mojeed who represented the Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa

Akinnola also stated that “it is important to note that the observance of this event with pomp and pageantry by the association reaffirms member’s commitment to intellectual growth and knowledge acquisition”.

“This occasion is aimed at appreciating and honouring distinguished individuals that have made tremendous contribution to the association and their chosen field of career in Lagos State in particular and the nation at large” the ANAN Ikeja Chairman noted.

The Annual Public Lecture with the theme; The Role of Professional Accountants in Revitalising an Economy in Recession, Lagos State in Focus, was delivered by the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA), Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa who was represented by the Chairman House Committee on Public Account Local, Hon Fatai Mojeed.

He emphasized on the role of an accountant in the decision making of economy policies.

He noted that “for a nation or organization to get things right it means that the accountant is up and doing”.

He charged all members of ANAN to be up and doing so as to help the nation’s economy out of economy recession.

The Chairman of the event Hon Solaja-Saka Nurudeen, who is the Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts State at the LSHA, also stated that the role of the chartered accountant cannot be overemphasized in the drive to revamping of the economy of the nation currently in recession due to COVID-19 and after the EndSARS saga.

He noted that the topic is timely and relevant to the nation currently witnessing recession. He said the professionalism of accountants is required to help revitalized the state and nation’s economy.

Award were presented to outstanding members of the association who had exemplary performed in the outgoing year.

An awardee receiving her award plaque from Hon Fatai Mojeed who represented the Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa at the event.

The event was well attended with live a band on hand to entertain both former and current Executives of the ANAN Ikeja branch and other guests who were treated to a buffet.

Facemask and hand sanitizers were given to all attendees at the entrance of the venue of the event.
