Various statistics rate Nigeria as one of the most religious nations in the world unfortunately, this ‘glorious’ classification has so far contributed little or nothing to national growth and development.

Having woken up to this realization, a lot of Nigerians have drastically reduced their rates of church attendance citing flamboyant lifestyles of some head pastors, the church’s love for materialism and the lack of accountability and transparency in the management of resources by many mega churches.

A case in view is that of a popular Mega church in Nigeria stalling an erosion project that would benefit the whole of a community.

Residents of Freedom Estate in Aseese-Ibafo, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State had thought their erosion problems would soon be over when a generous giver decided to embark on a massive drainage project to tackle the issues, but they were shocked by the resistance of Believers Love World, aka Christ Embassy to allow the project continue.

The church, which is headed by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is claiming ownership of a swampy piece of land originally planned by the community as drainage way, even as the original land owners are insisting the swampy piece was never sold to the church.

When seunawosika.com visited the area, community leaders and residents revealed that it was not the first time they were facing oppression by Christ Embassy in the community.

They therefore called on the Ogun state government to save them from the afflictions suffered by the community due to the stalling of the erosion project by the Church.
