Olorunda LCDA observes year 2022 tree planting exercise

In the early hours of today, Thursday the 14th of July, 2022, tree planting exercise was observed simultaneaously across Lagos State and Olorunda LCDA was not left behind in observing the exercise at the Council Secretariat, Iworo, Olorunda LCDA.

Representing the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, the Environment Officer of the Council urged the general public to imbibe the culture of tree planting as this will always salvage various forms of degradation that could besiege the environment.

“The culture of planting trees will benefit our environment and be favourable to the ecosystem. It will help to avert likely damages which may befall our immediate environment. We must take up this task as a matter of urgency and necessity.”

The Special Advicer on Environment to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Okunade Isiaka, having welcomed guests to the event, extolled the Council Mayor for his unrelenting support for beneficial programs such as the one being observed.

While delivering his keynote address, the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Samson Folorunso Olatunde acknowledged the actualization of the State Governor, His Excellency, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S agenda through the tree planting exercise and other environmental programmes.

In his words, “Today, we in Olorunda LCDA and it’s environs join the State Government, thousands of people, groups and organizations across Lagos State metropolis to celebrate the tree planting exercise and demonstrate total support towards the actualization of Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda, especially, on the health and environment programmes.”

He however promised to sustain his support for this event which is marked throughout the state on every 14th of July.

“In Olorunda LCDA, this administration has demonstrated it’s avowed commitment towards this annual event, which is aimed at regenerating the Council environment into a livable one

“We are indeed celebrating life, ‘for he who plants trees give life’. The life we are living in is sustained by the trees we plant”.

The event was brought to conclusion with a word of appreciation from the Council Manager and planting of trees by the Council Chairman and other notable officials of the council.
