The KB KLUB of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, has concluded its 57th Annual Philanthropic Outreach with a two-day health intervention aimed at improving access to basic healthcare services and promoting preventive health practices in the Ikeja community.
The outreach, themed “Better Health Today, Brighter Hope for Tomorrow,” was held on September 25 and 26, 2026, at the Ikeja Local Government.
The first day focused on maternal and child health, bringing together more than 150 pregnant women and nursing mothers from across the Ikeja community for an interactive health education session.
Participants received practical guidance on safe delivery practices, maternal wellbeing and early childcare, with health talks delivered by leading organisations in the maternal health sector. Care packages were also distributed to all women who attended the programme.
The second day featured a free medical outreach at the Ikeja Local Government Secretariat, where residents accessed a range of essential healthcare services at no cost.
Services provided included basic medical screenings and consultations, dental examinations and procedures, as well as comprehensive eye examinations. More than 200 residents benefited from the intervention, including 100 beneficiaries who received free reading glasses, over 80 who underwent scaling and polishing, and more than 60 who received free prescription medications.
Beyond providing immediate clinical care, the organisers used the outreach to promote health awareness and encourage residents to make informed decisions about their wellbeing. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of early detection, preventive healthcare and regular medical check-ups.
The two-day intervention underscored the commitment of the KB KLUB, College of Medicine, University of Lagos, to community service and improved access to healthcare, particularly for vulnerable members of society.
The successful outreach marked another milestone in the organisation’s long-standing philanthropic efforts and contributed to the shared goal of building a healthier community and creating “Better Health Today, Brighter Hope for Tomorrow.”
