The Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has expressed strong support for the passage of the State Police Bill, 2026, describing it as a historic step toward strengthening security and deepening democratic governance in Nigeria.

Faleke disclosed this in a post shared on his official Facebook page, where he revealed that he joined his fellow Honourable Members of the House of Representatives in voting for the bill, which was overwhelmingly approved by 289 lawmakers.

According to him, the passage of the bill marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to decentralize Nigeria’s policing structure, bringing law enforcement closer to the people and enabling more effective responses to security challenges across the country.

He expressed optimism that the various State Houses of Assembly would give the bill the necessary consideration and support when it is transmitted to them for ratification.

The lawmaker noted that the proposed reform has the potential to improve intelligence gathering, enhance community policing, and strengthen collaboration between security agencies and local communities.

Faleke further emphasized that the establishment of state police would contribute meaningfully to improved security, public safety, and governance nationwide, while addressing the unique security concerns of different states.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting legislative initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives and property and promoting the overall development of the nation.
