Real Madrid aims at high-flying Victor Osimhen

La Liga giants Real Madrid are the latest high profile European side that has reportedly joined the race to sign Nigeria International and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

A Spanish tabloid claimed the Los Blancos has pencilled down Osimhen as a possible replacement should they fail in their bid to prise away Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

Quoting respected Italian journalist Fabio Santini, a specialist in the transfer market, Mundo Deportivo said Osimhen is Real Madrid’s alternative if they can’t sign Haaland this coming summer.

Osimhen has been in rich vein of form in the on-going campaign with an impressive 11 goals in 22 matches for the Gil Azzuri despite missing almost two months of action after a cheekbone injury last November.

The Nigerian’s good form, however, hasn’t gone unnoticed. It’s not just Madrid that are eyeing him up – according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, so are Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain. PSG, however, seem to be prioritising Erling Haaland ahead of Osimhen at this time. Touted as the new Romelu Lukaku by Gianfranco Zola, Napoli are thought to be open to parting with him so long as it’s for in excess of the €70m they paid for him back in the summer of 2020.
