The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a popular social media blogger, Adetoun Onajobi, widely known as @JustAdetoun, over alleged defamation and cyber-related offences involving the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
The Command has also filed cyberbullying-related charges against the blogger at the Federal High Court, Abeokuta Division.
According to the police, a six-count charge has been preferred against Onajobi, bordering on alleged cyberbullying, publication of false information and obstruction of justice, contrary to the provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Command said the suspect had consistently failed to honour police invitations extended to her.
The police disclosed that instead of appearing for questioning, her lawyer wrote to the Command, claiming she was medically indisposed and attached a medical report purportedly issued by a licensed medical doctor.
However, DSP Babaseyi said discreet investigations later revealed that the medical report was false and misleading. The doctor who allegedly authored the report was arrested and reportedly confessed to fabricating the document at the instruction of Adetoun Onajobi during a phone conversation facilitated by her lawyer.
Following the confession, the doctor was arraigned before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court on charges of conspiracy, uttering a false document and obstruction of justice.
The police stated that Onajobi was initially invited for questioning on January 2, 2026, in connection with allegations arising from her online publications. Since then, she has allegedly remained evasive, repeatedly ignoring police invitations, while her current whereabouts are unknown.
DSP Babaseyi added that the Command is also trailing other suspects linked to the alleged dissemination of false information and vowed that all lawful means would be deployed to apprehend and bring Onajobi before the court to answer the charges already filed against her.
According to the statement, the blogger had, in recent times, used social media and other internet-enabled platforms to publish alleged false accusations against the Ogun State Government and harass the governor.
“The Ogun State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to tackle all forms of crime—violent, white-collar and digital—while respecting the constitutional rights of all persons,” the statement read.
The police further stressed that while freedom of expression is guaranteed by the Constitution, it does not extend to criminal conduct.
