The Police command in Lagos State has received fresh operational assets ahead of the launch of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).

The support came from the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) as part of efforts to strengthen policing operations the command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos.

Adebisi said the intervention aligned with ongoing police reforms under Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu hhe said the assets included two operational vehicles, 50 ballistic helmets, 50 bulletproof vests and 50 ballistic shields.

“The equipment will strengthen crime prevention and enhance rapid response operations across the state,” Adebisi said Presenting the items, LSSTF Executive Secretary, Ayodele Ogunsan, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to security support.

Ogunsan said the fund would continue equipping security agencies with critical tools and logistics “Effective policing requires sustained support, modern equipment and institutional partnership,” he said.

Receiving the assets, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Fatai Tijani, thanked the Lagos State Government and LSSTF Tijani said the support would strengthen the state’s security architecture and improve operational readiness.

“These assets will boost the effectiveness of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit,” he said.

He added that the support would improve emergency response, combat violent crimes and protect lives and property Tijani reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing, crime prevention and public safety across Lagos State. (NAN)
